Maybe it has just been my well-curated social media algorithm, but Florence seems like a perfect place to have it all. With the Duomo, Uffizi Gallery, and Ponte Vecchio, tourist season is pushing further into fall. Have you seen the lines to enter the Duomo? Serious luxury players are taking note of the city's constant buzz. That’s why Liaigre Hospitality Ventures and Capella Hotels teamed up to create a new hotel and branded residences in Florence, set to open in 2027.
It might take a lot of patience to navigate the crowds and a few insider tips to properly see the sights in Florence. But it’s worth the effort! There’s just so much history to uncover. That’s what makes it the ideal spot for this new hospitality venture. Liaigre has been globally recognized for its elegant minimalism and uncompromising luxury for the past 40 years, and this project represents its debut in the branded residences sector. But this ambitious project isn’t just a first for Liaigre; it also marks Capella’s entry into Europe. And as such, it spares no design expense.
Capella Florence will have 89 guestrooms—56 guest rooms and 33 suites, all boasting expansive views of the skyline and the breathtaking surroundings—plus 10 exclusive Liaigre residences. The hotel features an outdoor amphitheater to honor the history of the place and a 600-square-meter spa with a hydro pool, a fitness center, and a cafe with touches of contemporary design and luxury.
The development is within Florence’s historic center, which spans eight centuries and has served as convents, a military hospital, and a haven for artists. The architectural design of Capella Florence will honor this heritage while blending modern elements, staying true to the original attention to detail, clean lines, and overall aesthetic.
According to Anil Thadani, chairman of Liaigre Hospitality Ventures and a director of symphony, “Our vision is to create a destination that not only honors Florence’s unique legacy but also sets a new benchmark for luxury living and hospitality in Europe.”
This area is one of the last opportunities for a new hospitality project in the UNESCO-listed zone, which means it’s designated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization as a cultural site of "Outstanding Universal Value" to be protected for its global significance.
So when can you check in? Capella Florence will likely start accepting reservations in 2026, closer to the project completion date, so you’ve got some time to dream up your stay—short or long. If you haven’t looked into an open-ended ticket to Florence, maybe it’s time to start planning your travel accordingly.
